Jason is a flight instructor, author and entrepreneur in Florida. He presented
several forum sessions at Sun-n-Fun 2012. He also has several great books for
pilots - both students and certificated.
David is a true aviation enthusiast. Even though not a certificated pilot (YET!!),
David has a ton of experience in aircraft of all sizes and shapes. He has also
been a surprise camper at AcroCamp II.

PIREPS:
Stu was left circling KADS (Addison, TX) after a runway closure. Numerous
flights were unable to get in or out of the airport due to a disabled aircraft
on the runway.
Meanwhile, Stew was on runway 15 at KADS with a Cessna 182RG that refused to
turn left (obviously not a NASCAR fan...) Stew and his student were
taxing into take off position when the nose gear linkage and brakes failed.
With a bit of skill and a lot of luck, Stew was able to stop the Cessna only
inches from a shredded runway edge light.
Mike had a few adventures of his own. While flying his J3 Cub, he encountered
a rough running engine. The power production was reduced to the point Mike
turned around shortly after departure to make a precautionary landing. The
tower controllers at KIDA (Idaho Falls, ID) were on the ball and provided
quick and efficient service to get Mike and his cub down safely.
At the time, Mike did not declare an emergency. In retrospect, he's not sure
that was the right decision.
Not to be outdone, Stew also had a recent radio failure while flying with
a student. He describes the symptoms, what he did to troubleshoot, and
how the controllers responded as he tried to enter busy, controlled airspace
with a one-way radio.
Mike declared the "E" word after experiencing alternator problems in
flight. With a battery that was steadily discharging, he had to shoot
an approach into an airport that could service is ailing electrical
system on the Cessna 206. At the end of the approach, he found we was
not able to make out the runway environment. That forced a missed
approach with an uncertain outcome.

This month we welcome Nathan Carriker, author of A Silver Ring,
an Aviation Love Story. Nathan began flying at age eight, not long after learning he
was the nephew of a B-24 flight engineer killed in action in 1944 and becoming obsessed
with his story. That story, and many others close to his heart, inspired him to write
the novel, A Silver Ring.
Nathan earned his private pilot certificate on his 17th birthday and was a regional airline pilot
by age 20. Nathan now flys for one of the majors.

PilotStu describes his adventure in an accelerated CFI course at MN
Aviation in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He notes that it was a tremendous
amount of work, but well worth the effort. Going through the program
with Stu was Gabe, an energetic pilot from the Pacific Northwest, who
was going for commercial single engine, CFI, commercial multi-engine,
CFII (instrument instructor) and MEI (multi-engine instructor) in one
massive swoop. After recording, Stu learned that Gabe had to postpone
the CFII and MEI ratings since he ran out of time. He plans to pursue
those back at his home base.
Mike fills us in on his latest purchase - a vintage J3 cub. Mike also
describes his work towards earning his tailwheel endorsement and his
new found "happy feet" in managing the cub on the ground.
Stew discusses the Accident Investigation course he took as part of
his degree program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
